Installing a new carpet does not only enhance the beauty of a room but provides a comfortable surface to walk on. Carpet installation is not a job everybody wants to take on. It can be very strenuous, tough and time consuming. You may have a lot of choices when it comes to new flooring. No matter what you choose our installations makes all the difference. Bellow we shall be looking on how to do a Carpet installation:

1. Getting rid of the old carpet is the first thing to do. Remove the moldings around the floor. You can as well take the door off the entrance, so you can get the old carpet out and the new carpet in with ease. Make sure you clean the old carpet so you won't be breathing in dust.

2. Make sure the surface to be carpeted is smooth, clean and dry. Well swept and vacuum cleaned. Scrape up any paint or joint compound on the floor thoroughly. This is a good time to check your sub-floor and securely fasten any floorboards that may be loose so they won't squeak under the new carpet.

3. Put in place tactless strips with the right size and avoid placing them in front of doorways. The strip tacks are very sharp and could stab through the carpet and injure your feet. Before nailing the strips, leave a space of about 1/2" between the strips and the wall, and be sure the pins or tacks face towards the wall. Tacks used may depend on the floor you are working on. Be it a concrete sub-floor, hardwood floor or vinyl.

4. Position the under pad down in strips that push up to or reach the tactless strips. Staple the joint of the pad, alternating staples so that they aren't beside one another. Stretch the padding so that the pieces are butted tightly together against each other - don't overlap them.

Find the tactless strips through the padding, and you may use a utility knife to cut away the padding so that all the tacks are exposed.

5. Before laying the carpet, Measure the room at its longest point, and add 3 to 6 inches to the measurement. To allow for errors, irregularities and pattern matching. Mark the back of your carpet on both edges with that measurement and connect the two marks with a chalk line. , cut through the backside of your carpet not forgetting to protect the carpet beneath either with a board.

6. At the joins of the carpet pieces, make sure you overlap the two pieces, with the use of a utility knife or a seam cutter, cut through both pieces of carpet, making sure the edges are straight. After cutting the carpet, center a piece of seaming tape on the floor underneath where they join, adhesive side up. Heat the seaming iron to the required temperature and rest it directly on the tape for just seconds. Then put the edges together and seal the seam with a rolling pin or a carpet roller.
