When asked why would someone spend millions of dollars on a custom luxury "dream" home, versus a more modest (yet still elegant) home in the same neighborhood, the custom home builders often talk about their client's emotions. Here are some of the emotional reasons:
- Having a dream home to make all of their design ideas and remodeling aspirations come to life
- Having a home to entertain VIP’s, politicians, celebrities and others that the homeowner deems to be important
- Being able to maintain high levels of security such as separation from neighbors, security-enhanced windows, advanced locks, safe rooms and more
- Setting the environment to showcase valuable artwork
- Owning a home large enough to have extended family and friend stay for a long period of time
- Ability to send their children to private schools or exclusive area public schools and not have their kids endure any sort of self esteem issues due to a lack of status
- Potential to be seen as important and get local media coverage for business or personal reasons
- Owning a home which can permit enough space to have a luxury home theater, elegant pool, game room, or another desired space
- Being able to create family memories such as Christmas with a 30 foot high tree and a wide variety of presents
